A woman on probation from Lorain County Juvenile Court has been found ‘guilty’ of killing an off-duty Cleveland Police officer during an attempted carjacking on Cleveland’s west side.
19-year-old Tamara McLoyd of Garfield Heights could get life-in-prison when she’s sentenced later this year.
McLoyd had confessed to killing 25-year-old Shane Bartek, but insisted, she did not intend to do so.
An area man was arrested for OVI, not once, but twice in the same day in Sandusky.
According to the Sandusky Register, the man received the first charge along with child endangering during a reported incident at Jaycee Park North.
The second reported incident took place 3 hours later on Meigs Street.
With help of a state grant, the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrol on the roads this month.
They’ll be focused on promoting driver safety during the National Mobilization for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
Help is on the way to some local non-profits, to help those-in-need.
The Lorain County Commissioners have committed a total of 200-thousand-dollars in so-called ‘federal rescue money’ to nine organizations.
Recipients include City Fresh in Oberlin, Great Expectations Ministries in Lorain and Beyond the Walls Church in Elyria.
A road closure in Erie County…
The Erie County EMA says that Barrett Road between Tracks End Bar and Newberry Avenue in Margaretta Township is shut down to traffic for an indefinite amount of time.
This is due to what’s being called a “severely deteriorated culvert” under the roadway.
Huron County Public Health is set to receive $100,000 in funds from the Ohio Department of Health.
According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, they’ll use it for a health improvement project in the southwest part of Huron County which includes Celeryville, New Haven and Richmond Townships; along with parts of Plymouth and Willard.
More specifically, the project will focus on reducing health disparities and improving equity.
Main Street Lorain is now officially Main Street Lorain.
The organization has received accreditation from “Heritage Ohio”.
Among other things, “Heritage Ohio” assesses a Main Street’s finances, looking for long-term stability.
The party has been called off.
Tonight’s Party at the Pier concert with The Vindy’s at Jackson Street Pier in Sandusky has been postponed.
The show has been moved to Thursday, September 15th.
