The man from Willard accused of stabbing a woman to death on Sunday was last reported in serious condition in a Toledo hospital.
According to the Sandusky Register, 44-year-old Javier Lopez was injured after he reportedly fled the scene of the stabbing and his car crashed during a pursuit on Route 229 near Fremont.
Lopez has been charged in the death of 45-year-old Margarita Roblero-Perez.
Looking at COVID numbers…
The Erie County Health Department reports 2 new deaths and 305 new cases during a recent 7-day span. The death toll is now at 220 in Erie County since the pandemic began.
Huron County saw 1 new death reported, along with 37 new cases on Tuesday. The death toll is at 125 in Huron County.
A semi cab was destroyed in a fire in Huron County on Monday.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that it happened on Route 61, near Peru, involving a semi truck cab without a trailer.
The driver was not injured.
Road work in Norwalk today…
Weather permitting; crews will be repairing the intersection of North Garfield and Jefferson Street.
The city asks residents to use alternate routes.
The city of Amherst is moving ahead with plans, to earmark money for an eventual overhaul of Oak Point Road near Route 2.
In recent years, there has been a lot of medical and commercial growth in that area, and that has resulted in more and more traffic.
In Cleveland, 15-percent of eligible voters have decided, Justin Bibb and Kevin Kelley will advance to November’s ballot in the race for mayor.
They were the top two vote-getters in yesterday’s non-partisan primary.
Bibb received about 27-percent of the votes cast…Kelley followed with just over 19-percent.
A road closure in Sandusky today…
The Division of Water Distribution is closing Columbus Avenue between Monroe and Madison Streets for repairs.
The Willard Fire Department has received a $136,000 Assistance to Firefighters grant.
It will be used to purchase upgraded cardiac rescue equipment.
Today, the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio will host a drive-thru, mobile food pantry at Brookside High School on Harris Road in Sheffield.
It’ll run from 4:30 until 6 pm.
The next Sandusky neighborhood ice cream social is set for tonight.
It will be held at the Sandusky Recreation Department, starting at 7 pm.
The event allows residents to meet city staff and City Commissioners, learn about projects happening in their neighborhoods and have an opportunity to share ideas for improving the city’s neighborhoods.
