A look at COVID numbers…

The state saw an uptick in new reported cases on Thursday, with nearly 7,900.

In Huron County, 76 new cases were reported on Thursday, along with 6 new hospitalizations.

New numbers from the Ohio Hospital Association show; Ohioans…19 and younger…are now driving the state’s COVID-19 pandemic…with the largest share of cases than any other age group.

And…hospitalizations among those 17 and younger have skyrocketed by nearly 900-percent over the past two months.

Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11…and the area will see several remembrance ceremonies.

In Huron County…

In Norwalk, a ceremony will begin at 8:25 am at Shady Lane Memorial Park, featuring live music and first responder guest speakers.

Willard will host a silent walk at 8 pm, starting at the Blossom Center, followed by a ceremony at Doster Plaza

Also in Lorain County…

There will be a free performance by the TrueNorth Chorale and Chamber Orchestra, tomorrow night at 7 pm, at the Stocker Center of Lorain County Community College.

The program is called, “We Remember”, and will feature nationally-acclaimed baritone Timothy LeFebvre

Traffic is flowing today on Route 301 in Penfield Township.

Yesterday, the road was closed for several hours when two trucks crashed near Indian Hollow Road.

45-year-old John Gibbons of Wellington was killed.

50-year-old Melissa Rowan of Akron was taken to Metro hospital.

The Highway Patrol says, one of the trucks drifted left-of-center, causing the head-on crash.

An area man faces felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Cleveland Road in Sandusky on Wednesday.

According to the Sandusky Register, police found meth and cocaine in the vehicle of 55-year-old John Gallagher.

Authorities also discovered a warrant out of Norwalk for Gallagher.

A resident of Sheffield Lake will be sentenced in January after pleading ‘guilty’ to ‘wire fraud’.

The feds say, 52 year old Michael Ackerman defrauded investors out of 30-million-dollars in a ‘crypto currency’ scheme.

Ackerman has been ordered to make full restitution.

Fall dates have been announced for the city of Norwalk.

-Annual Brush Pickup: October 18th through 22nd

-Limited Trash Pickup: October 25th through 29th

-Trick-or-Treat: October 30th from 5 to 7 pm

-Leaf Pick-up: Dates will be announced later

The city of Sandusky is set to recognize their 2020 Volunteers of the Year.

Those to be honored include:

Jimm Corso and Jackie “Mama” Collins (posthumously)

And Chuck Lococo, who’ll be in attendance.

The recognition will take place Monday afternoon in the Washington Park Gazebo.

Something new from the Lorain County Historical Society in Elyria…a fundraiser that features local craft beers, food trucks and music.

“Hickories on Tap” will be served up tomorrow from 3 until 7 pm, outside the Hickories Museum on Washington Avenue.

The grand opening of the new Raising Cane’s chicken fingers restaurant in Sandusky on Route 250…has been pushed back.

It will now open on September 30th.
