The procession for United States Navy Fleet Marine Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class, 22-year-old Max Soviak of Berlin Heights, will take place later this morning.
The process begins with Soviak’s remains arriving at Cleveland Hopkins Airport at around 10:30 am.
The public procession will then begin at the Route 250 exit off the Ohio Turnpike and travel through Milan and Berlin Heights, and end at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home.
Avon Lake Police continue their investigation into what appears to be a murder-suicide.
Yesterday afternoon, police found the bodies of 2 adults and 2 children in a home on English Run, between Route 83 and Jaycox.
The names of those killed have not been released.
Police in Elyria say, they have made an arrest, in the shooting-death of a man on Broad Street in downtown Elyria.
27-year-old Raython Fields…who in recent years has lived in Lorain and Elyria…has been charged with ‘murder’.
Fields is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Yadiel Torres of Elyria in the early morning hours of September 3rd, in the 300-block of Broad Street.
No word yet from police, on a possible motive…
In COVID figures…
The Erie County Health Department reports 205 new cases over a recent 7-day span; with 50 percent of county residents fully vaccinated.
On Tuesday, Huron County saw 16 new reported cases and the state reported nearly 4,900 new cases.
Lorain County Public Health reports a surge in COVID cases…with 814 active cases…up from 10 only 2 months ago. Hospitalizations are also up 35 last week, compared to 21 the previous week.
A Norwalk family of 4 escaped a house fire safely early Tuesday.
According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, the blaze took place on Franklin Street, causing over $60,000 in damage.
The fire was likely caused by an electrical issue.
Due to emergency work being done at the water tower, a boil advisory is in effect for the Village of Berlin Heights until 12 noon today.
A Boil Advisory means you should vigorously boil water 1-2 minutes before consumption.
An update to Norwalk’s street resurfacing project…
The project is scheduled to wrap up this week with work today on Foster and Indian Terrace.
Then on Thursday and Friday, crews will be active on East Main, between Chatham and Rosedale.
Temporary traffic signals will be used for traffic control on East Main.
The city of Sandusky’s next ice cream social event is set for tonight.
It will happen at Churchwell Park on South Forest Drive at 7 pm.
The event allows residents to learn about projects in their neighborhoods and talk with city commissioners and staff.
A so-called connector road into Chestnut Commons in Elyria is another step closer to opening.
