A Milan man has been taken to Metro Hospital in Cleveland after a two-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on Route 601 in Norwalk Township.

Troopers say, 42 year old Zachary Lause was hurt, when the driver of a pickup truck turned left in front of his oncoming motorcycle.

Checking COVID figures…

Statewide, the numbers continue to rise, with 7,000 new cases reported on Thursday. This, after 6,000 cases were reported on Wednesday.

Huron County Public Health’s latest weekly report shows 260 new cases from August 27th to September 2nd, up from 236 the previous week. The average age of cases has decreased, with the highest number of cases reported in the 11 to 20 age group. All Huron County zip codes are currently reporting cases, with the highest incidence in Willard residents. 50 new cases were reported in Huron County on Thursday.

Due to the increase in COVID cases, those entering the courthouse will be required to wear appropriate face coverings.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be safe this Labor Day weekend.

Troopers will focus enforcement efforts on removing impaired drivers from Ohio’s roadways.

During the 2020 Labor Day holiday weekend, there were 13 fatal crashes which killed 15 people.

Ten of those fatalities involved alcohol and/or drugs, while 6 fatalities were unbelted.

Another leader in Lorain County government…soon to be gone…

According to the Chronicle Telegram, Elizabeth Doyle…who oversees the County Crime and Drug Lab…has resigned, effective September 16th… due to ‘personal reasons’.

Her departure follows the firings of County Administrator Tom Williams, 9-1-1 Director Harry Williamson, and Job and Family Services Director Tim Carrion.
