Police in Elyria are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

It happened just before 6:30 Sunday morning on Route 57 near West River Road.

Police have not yet released any other details.


Life-threatening injuries for a Willard woman in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday…

The State Highway Patrol says that 33-year-old Callie Looney was driving on Route 61 in Willard when her vehicle ran off the left side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned several times.

Excessive speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the crash; and Looney was not wearing a seatbelt.


Police in Vermilion are investigating a crash involving a pick-up truck that veered off Route 2 yesterday afternoon, travelled down an embankment, and came to rest within a few feet of the Vermilion River.

The driver…whose name has not been released…was taken to a nearby hospital.


Huron County Public Health has reinstated their weekly public COVID-19 updates.

…This, all due to an increase in cases locally and nationwide.

The updates were suspended back in early June due to low cases.

…From July 16th to 22nd to last week (July 23rd to 29th), Huron County’s COVID-19 case count nearly doubled from 19 to 36.

The health department says that in addition to the increasing cases, the Delta variant is rapidly becoming the dominant strain of COVID-19 in Ohio.


An Elyria man is due in court, in connection with last week’s shooting-death of Caree Cannon at Bailey’s Bar and Grill.

20-year-old Ronald Johnson is charged with “Complicity to Murder”.

Elyria Police say, they consider this case, an “ongoing and active investigation” and are asking anyone with information about the shooting, to come forward.


A Sandusky man faces multiple charges related to a drug arrest.

According to the Sandusky Register, following a traffic stop on West Monroe and Decatur streets in Sandusky; police allegedly found more than 80 ecstasy pills in the possession of 35-year-old Gregory Garrett-Jones.

Besides drug possession, police also charged Garrett-Jones with failure to comply and resisting arrest.


ODOT has addressed concerns of residents regarding a planned roundabout in Huron County.

According to Norwalk Ohio, the 2 main concerns brought up during the public comment part of the project on Routes 601 and 20 were placing a stoplight there instead of the roundabout and the effect on Summit Motorsports Park.

The county fair season has arrived…and this week, it’s the Medina County Fair….it’s 175th celebration!

Grandstand events include Bull Riding, a Demo Derby and a Farm Pull.

The Medina County Fair runs through Sunday.


Detour signs are going up along Route 301 near Route 303 in LaGrange.

Crews will be working on the rail crossing through the week.


Today, the Second Harvest Food Bank will host a drive thru mobile food pantry at Ely Stadium in Elyria.

It’ll run from 2 until 4pm.


The City of Willard and Huron County Public Health are teaming up for a bike-share program that’s planned for 2022.

They’re asking residents to complete a survey regarding the program; which can be found on the Huron County Public Health Facebook page.
