The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and the U-S Marshall’s Office are looking for two men who escaped from the Lorain-Medina Community-based correctional facility.
They say, 35-year-old Kevin McKitrick of Elyria and 21-year-old Justin Hamilton of Vermilion took it on-the-lam June 29th, and have not been seen since.
Police in Elyria are asking for your help, in their investigation into a shooting that happened early yesterday.
30-year-old Mondrell Green of Elyria is in the hospital, being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
No word yet of any arrests…
Police in Avon Lake says, they are working on leads, in a shooting from a month ago.
Police say, Lee Martin of Oberlin was shot, at the Coachman Trail condominiums off of Moore Road.
So far, no one has been arrested.
More than two dozen local drug task forces in Ohio will receive grant funding to support efforts that disrupt the drug trade and promote substance use awareness, prevention, and recovery.
Those receiving funding include the Lorain County Drug Task Force ($86,000) and the Ottawa County Regional Drug Task Force ($139,000).
A new program will provide free, healthy food to patients who need it.
According to the Sandusky Register…through a $5,000 grant from the Erie County Foundation, the ‘Food is Medicine’ program from Family Health Services in Sandusky and OH-Go has been launched.
Those with medical conditions and food insecurities will receive items like fruits and vegetables twice a month from the clinic.
Family Health Services hopes to supply as many as 150 people at year’s end.
It’s almost festival time in Huron…
This year’s River Fest is a one day event, and is set for Saturday.
It will include a 5K in the morning, a parade at 11:00 am, live music throughout the afternoon and evening and conclude with fireworks at 10:00 pm.
A longtime member of the Milan Township Volunteer Fire Department and the village of Milan was honored on Thursday.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that the Milan Chamber of Commerce paid tribute to the late Larry Smith by awarding him with the village’s Citizen of the Year award for 2020-21.
Smith, known as ‘Smitty’, spent over 40 years working for the village.
He passed away in 2020.
With recent reports of sick and dying songbirds in Ohio and surrounding states, the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are encouraging hobby and backyard poultry owners, to limit exposure, to protect their flocks.
ODNR is advising Ohioans to stop feeding wild birds, and remove and clean bird feeders, especially if they see sick and/or dead birds in their area.
So far, officials don’t know what’s causing the birds to get sick and die.

The intersection of Routes 18 and 58 will close Sunday night at 6:00 pm so movies crews can get ready for Monday’s work on the set of the motion picture, “White Noise”, starring Adam Driver.
Crews hope to reopen the intersection early WEDNESDAY.

Yesterday, management called to say, someone…or some people…stole several thousand-dollars-worth of tools from the store.
An update on upgrades at Norwalk’s McGuan Park…
According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, a groundbreaking ceremony for the park’s all-abilities playground will take place today at 6:00 pm.
Also, a pump track and kiddie pump track are finished and have already started being used.
The kiddie pump track is the first of its kind in the country.
The date for the 2nd annual ‘Restore Norwalk’ Community Cookout has been announced.
It will happen August 8th at 2:00 pm at Vets Memorial Lake Park; and feature live music, food vendors, a street market and events for the kiddos.
