In COVID-19 News…

Erie County starts the week with 7,720 cases of the Coronavirus and 154 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Huron County starts the week with 5,353 cases and 115 deaths since the pandemic began.

Lorain County has 24,493 cases and 473 since the beginning of the pandemic.


Lorain County’s 20th biannual drug take back day saw a large collection.

On Saturday about 4,000 pounds of medication was collected from 15 different locations in Lorain County.

Twice a year, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office partners with local law enforcement agencies as well as the Columbia Fire Department to collect medications, both prescription and over-the-counter that may be expired or no longer needed.


A Lorain man was sentenced to life in prison on multiple rape charges.

57-year-old Kevin Brown is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted on five felony rape charges.

This comes after he was charged with sexual assault more than six years ago.


A new roundabout project is expected to begin this summer in Huron County.

According to the Sandusky Register…

The roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Ohio 601, east of Norwalk.

According to Ohio Department of Transportation spokesperson Crystal Neelon, this $1.7 million dollar project is set to begin in mid-August.


Lorain County Public Health recommends teens get vaccinated before the school year ends.

This recommendation, for students ages 16 and up, is intended to help students enjoy getting back to traditions like prom and graduations.

It also helps with the time table for the vaccine given that there is nearly a one month period where a person cannot receive any other vaccines after getting their first, so this would help students get any needed back to school vaccines when school returns in the fall.


A resident of Lorain County has been charged with ‘attempted murder’.

40 year old Brian Fazio is accused of breaking into a home on Ohio Street in Elyria yesterday afternoon and stabbing his estranged wife several times.

She is being treated at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.


A Cleveland woman is due in Lorain Muny Court in connection with the disappearance of 200-thousand-dollars that was supposed to be deposited into local ATM’s.

20-year-old Kie Kortney-Canady was arrested last week…the second person charged in the case.

Police in Lorain are also investigating whether the pair was involved in the shooting-deaths of two other women in Lorain, in early February.


Lorain County Public Health is offering what they call, ‘small grants’, to government agencies, non-profits and community organizations for projects that support the 5 components of the “Community Health Improvement Plan”.

They include;

  • Chronic disease
  • Maternal and child health
  • Mental health
  • Substance abuse
  • And cancer

Applications are due May 19th.


Detour signs have gone up in North Ridgeville at Alternate Route 83 and Chestnut Ridge…as crews begin work on the city’s newest roundabout.

Work will continue through July.
