Governor Mike DeWine went over some state COVID-19 statistics during his press briefing on Thursday.

He announced that more than 36 percent of Ohioans have now received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

However, Ohio’s statewide case incidence number has reached 200 cases per 100,000 people as compared to 144 cases per 100,000 people 4 weeks ago.

There are currently more than 1,300 COVID-positive patients in Ohio’s hospitals.


In Huron County COVID-19 numbers…

5 new cases were reported on Thursday.


The Ohio Department of Health is investigating the death of a student at the University of Cincinnati, one day after getting the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

John Foley was 21.

An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death.


A change of location for an upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinic…

The clinic scheduled for next Thursday at Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky has now been moved to the Erie County Health Department, due to a lack of scheduled appointments.


Police in Lorain are offering a 5-thousand-dollar reward for information regarding a double-murder.

29-year-old Jerhonda Edwards and 28-year-old Abril Mills were found dead last month in a residence on F Street in Lorain.


Two residents of Elyria have pled ‘not guilty’ to charges that they sexually assaulted children.

36-year-old Roger Mincey and 30 year old Ashley Lenhart are free-on-bond.


A long-time probation officer for Sandusky Muni Court has been indicted on sex charges.

According to the Sandusky Register, 38-year-old Adam Lieb of Sandusky faces 9 counts of compelling prostitution, which allegedly involves 2 people, 1 of those being a child.

Lieb worked close to 19 years as a probation officer with Sandusky Muni Court, before resigning 2 days after his arrest.


The Ohio State Highway Patrol and other members of the 6-State Trooper Project recently collaborated to focus on distracted driving enforcement.

During the week-long initiative, the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued over 550 citations for distracted driving.

Locally, 14 citations were issued in Erie County, 11 in Lorain County, and 3 in Huron County.

School officials in Elyria are finalizing their school leadership teams for the 2021/22 school year.

Also, this summer will see the finishing touches on the new K-through-8 Eastern Heights Campus.

A familiar festival is set to return this summer.

It’s been announced that the Vermilion Festival of the Fish will take place June 18th through 20th, featuring all the usual favorites; including food, live music, fireworks and a lighted boat parade.

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.


Cedar Point is getting ready to host a local hiring event.

It takes place tomorrow from 10am to 4pm at their recruiting center on First Street in Sandusky.

Park recruiters will be offering on-the-spot interviews, as they continue to fill 6,500 positions for this upcoming season.
