Statewide – over 20,900 cases – About 500 more cases Tuesday

1,135 deaths – Around 80 more deaths reported Tuesday

Erie County – 61 confirmed cases – 2 more reported Tuesday

Huron County – 33 cases – 1 reported on Tuesday


Lorain County’s death-toll from COVID-19 now stands at 38.

Avon Lake Mayor Greg Zilka says, the latest victim lived in his community.


Governor Mike DeWine announced some major budget cuts for Ohio in his Tuesday news conference.

Those cuts include $300 million to K-12 public school funding and $110 million in college and university funding; as well as $210 million from Medicaid.

DeWine is scheduled to not hold a news conference today; but is expected Thursday to provide more details on the reopening of restaurants, hair salons and daycares.


Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has announced his office distributed nearly $1 million in funding to domestic violence shelters and coalitions across the state to assist victims in midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Locally, Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter in Sandusky received part of the funding.


More cancellations due to COVID-19…

The Sandusky Community Celebrations Council has decided to cancel their summer events for 2020; including the Tuesday night Gazebo Concert Series and the July 4th Stars and Stripes Celebration.


Former Oberlin Police Chief Robert Jones has died.

He was 81.

Jones joined the force in 1967 as a dispatcher and worked his way up to Chief of Police 13 years later…in the top job until he retired in 2000.

He finished out his career as Director of Campus Safety at Oberlin College.

Elyria Police continue their investigation into a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

It happened at noontime yesterday.

Police say, 32 year old Darnell Ford of Elyria was walking northbound on West River Road North at Root 57, and was struck by a car.

Ford was taken to Metro in Cleveland with serious injuries.


A young man and woman from suburban Garfield Heights face charges in Elyria.

Police say, they arrested Dvon Clark and Roneisha Banks after they responded to a “shots fired” call yesterday afternoon in the area of Melvyn Lane and Allen Street.

Police say, two children…one and two years of age…were inside the car.


Voters in Erie County will see a renewal levy on the ballot this fall from their health department…as the Erie County Health Department will place a .5 mill levy on the ballot in November.

Health Commissioner Pete Schade tells the Sandusky Register that the levy would generate close to $1.1 million per year and will not raise taxes since it is a renewal.
