A Vermilion man has been arraigned on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI in the death of a Lorain bicyclist Sunday night.

Ruben Diaz was 57.

Lorain Police say that Diaz’s body was found on Oberlin Avenue where he apparently was hit by a vehicle belonging to 46-year-old Paul Gill.

Gill is scheduled to be back in court next Monday for preliminary hearing.


Fremont Police are investigating a reported stabbing that occurred Saturday.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 39-year-old Jason Conley on felonious assault charges; in connection with the stabbing of 31-year-old Roshawn Watkins, who was discovered at a bar on West State Street.

Watkins was taken to a Toledo hospital for treatment.


Flu numbers from Huron County Public Health…

There were 55 positive flu tests and 4 flu hospitalizations the week of January 26th through February 1st.

The number of positive flu tests increased by 6 from the previous reporting week and the number of hospitalizations went by just 1.


The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has released crime-related statistics for 2019.

According to the Sandusky Register, most numbers remained pretty close to what they were in 2018; including 1,088 total arrests in 2019 compared to 1,094 arrests in 2018…and 704 traffic crashes in 2019 compared to 763 in 2018.

The only big change came in category of processing sex offender registrations…631 in 2019 compared to 345 in 2018…this happening due to a stronger focus on verifying sex offenders says the sheriff’s office.


It appears, Ford will bring about 18-hundred new jobs to the Ohio Assembly Plant rather than the previously reported 15-hundred.

According to the Chronicle Telegram, Sheffield Village Mayor John Hunter shared the information with village council last night.

Last November, Ford announced, they would be bringing a new product line to The Ohio Assembly Plant as part of a 900-million-dollar investment.

The plant spans parts of Avon Lake, Sheffield Village and Sheffield Lake.


The City of Sandusky has announced they’ll be holding their first ever ‘Restaurant Week’

It will take place March 2nd through 6th in downtown Sandusky’s entertainment district…featuring more than 20 restaurants that’ll be offering tasting opportunities and feature menus.


It might be February, but organizers of Vermilion’s Festival of the Fish are already thinking summer.

They’ve announced, the 54th annual festival will have a “Mardi Gras” theme.

This year’s Festival of the Fish will run from June 19th through the 21st.
