Health officials have issued an ‘air advisory’ for today, for Lorain County, Medina County, and several counties to the east.

They say, weather conditions and particulates in the air could present a problem for sensitive groups including children, the elderly, and those with breathing issues.

 

A Perkins Township man has been indicted for the alleged rape of a child.

According to the Sandusky Register, 37-year-old Daniel Hillis allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 in the summer of 2015.

He’ll be arraigned next week in Erie County Common Pleas Court.

 

A Lorain man…wanted for a shooting on Iowa Avenue last month, has surrendered to authorities.

This, after the U-S Marshall’s Office made 40-year-old Jose Mercado, their Fugitive of the Week.

Police say, 18 year old Hector Aponte was wounded, October 30th.

 

Columbia Gas is asking residents of Wellington to contact them, if their gas service has not been restored.

Columbia Gas workers have been going door-to-door since Sunday, restoring service after repairs were made to a leaking gas line, but some people left their homes, in search of warmer shelter and have not returned or have not been home when workers knocked on the door.

 

A blood drive is being held today in Sandusky.

The Erie Community Foundation and American Red Cross are sponsoring the drive in the Foundation’s conference room on East Washington Row from noon to 6:00 pm.

 

Fisher-Titus Home Health in Norwalk has received some special recognition…

They’ve been named a “Top Agency of the 2019 HomeCare Elite” and received a four-star quality rating for patient care from the Centers for Medicare Services.

It’s an acknowledgment of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States…recognizing Fisher-Titus as being in the top 25-percent of all home care agencies in the country.

 

Crews in Willard are scheduled for storm sewer work today at Linden and Timber.

One-lane traffic will be maintained during the work. 

 

The 9th annual Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department Holiday Food Drive is underway.

They’re collecting non-perishable food items in the lobby of the township administration building on East Cemetery Road until December 18th.

 

‘Tis the season for tree lighting ceremonies…

The city of Willard held their unofficial kickoff to the holiday season last night.

Sandusky has their lighting ceremony planned for next Wednesday. 

In Norwalk, you’ll have to wait until next Saturday the 30th
